Matt Glickstein: Songs for a Better World



Island Below the Star, an original musical with music and lyrics by Matt Glickstein and Grant Choo, will be performed by the Lanai Academy of Performing Arts on May 25, 26, 28, 29, and 30 at the Lanai Playhouse. Island Below the Star is based on the James Rumsford fictional story of the same name, and the script was adapted by Sandy Patterson. Songs can be previewed on SoundCloud, and a CD will be made available for purchase very soon. Spam I Am, a song with lyrics written by the Lanai High and Elementary School 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 12th graders in honor of Dr. Suess's birthday, is now available for free download on SoundCloud. Premiered at the first annual Author's Faire at the Koele Lodge on March 2nd, 2013. Singing to the World (feat. Lana'i Class of 2020) is a song with lyrics by the Lana'i High and Elementary School 4th graders (Class of 2020). The video features an appearance by Jake Shimabukuro has performances by Lana'i High and Elementary School students. The music video was filmed and edited by Xterra TV and was featured in Dalai Lama speaking events in Honolulu April 14th and 15th. Hear the story behind the song in my Blog.
